Dale

Band leader , Lead Guitar , Acoustic Guitar , Lead and Backing Vocals

I started off as a drummer for several bands that played Rock and Roll , Southern Fried Rock, and Progressive Rock in the late 80s early 90s club scene around the Houston area. I switched to guitar and vocals and found what God created music for… to praise Him with!! Having a bunch of drunks yelling “Free bird!” at you at a club somewhere has got nothing on seeing Gods people in various forms of worship.

Hands up,tears streaming, hearts wide open, singing with the band, the congregation sounds like a Choir of angels from my spot on the stage sometimes…being part of all this has been a wonderful part of my life. My crew has become like family to me,they work so hard and so good together, they make me proud every time we play. They have been very dedicated , through all the services , rehearsals, recording sessions , setting it up and tearing it all down… they put their hearts into it , and though unpaid , they are very much professionals. This band has helped me stretch and grow , musically and spiritually , and I am honored to have the opportunity to worship with them.I thank God for each and every one of them.

John

Drums , Band Chaplain

John is an Army soldier who was transplanted in Texas in 1980.Originally from the North-East US (North Jersey), he wound up at Fort Hood, Texas ( 2nd Armored Division, a 3 year tour) via West Germany (7th Army, 4 year tour). He came to faith in 1977 while stationed in 7th Army at Vilseck, West Germany after he read a Nobel prize dissertation and from that realized that God created the elements and everything else. God made the big bang happen!

He was discipled via the Navigators (at Vilseck, West Germany) and Youth With a Mission while in West Germany (Hurlach). Was an Army chaplain’s Assistant while in 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. He got out of the Army in 1982 and went to college, getting a degree in computer Science.

As he grew in the Lord he grew into early Jesus Music (Resurrection Band, Petra, Larry Norman, Love Song, Honeytree, Imperials, Gaithers, Keith Green, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Barry McGuire, One Bad Pig) and started playing Jesus music. He was a member of the Austin Christian Artists Association in the early days.

In 2011, he and his wife moved to North Texas and attended church there. He started helping with sound at a church. When the drummer needed time off, he was asked to fill in on drums. During that time, he started playing with Jerry Puckett and he and his wife started attending early Mark V events and soon after  was asked to audition with Mark V after an earlier edition of the band folded. He and Mark V  haven’t been the same since!

His interests include Biblical Archeology, and a lot of other stuff, to many to mention because you need to check out his musical influences: The Kinks, the Turtles, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, do we really need to keep going here?? Modern influences are: Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Dream Theater.

John is well traveled, having been through the Berlin Wall (at Checkpoint Charlie) and prayed at the Wailing Wall and through these experiences, he has learned that there is so much to life, not just what he think it is. John once wrote, “God is so good that He has given me so many Life experiences to reveal His creation to me. My goal is to be the best brother in the Lord that I possibly can, and to reveal Him to as many as I can.” And he is doing just that.

Robert

Bass ManBass Guitarist, Vocals, Arrangement and Producer

Robert is our bass guitarist and one of the vocalists in Mark V band. He is rock solid as he cranks out the driving bass lines that get people moving, holding down the bottom end of our music. The bass plays a powerful role in how we hear harmonies. When we hear several notes played at the same time, we hear them all relative to the lowest sounding pitch — the bass note. He brings years of experience and vocal talent, helping us to arrange our harmonies into a thick, unique sound.

Born in Texas but raised “all over” in a military family, Robert returned to Texas in 1985 to attend the University of North Texas, pursuing a bachelors degree in music theory. The LORD had better plans, and Robert’s life and weak concept of the love of God were shaken, only to be replaced with depth and vibrant life that could only come from great storms and the seeming loss of everything. The bachelors degree never happened, but the revelation of God’s love and goodness did!

Robert  has really helped us take our music to another level, musically and spiritually, and is happy writing songs and setting Scriptures to music.

Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Jerry

Praise Leader , Lead Guitar , Acoustic Guitar , Keyboards , Lead and Backing Vocals

Jerry is my right hand man. He brings a lot of skill and energy in to the band. He is like a little kid at  heart and keeps the band laughing most of the time. He writes great songs and knows how to take what others write and put icing on it. He and I seemed to blend very well on guitars and vocals from day one , it was just one of those meant to be connections. Jerry Puckett Worshipping through Mark V

He is probably the most creative one out of this group , he has an extensive musical background in playing , writing , and is even educated in recording and engineering , so he comes in very handy in the production end of this band. He is also the wise counsel when things are going way south , always telling me what I need to hear , not just what I want to hear. He is a leader , on and off the stage. This is one hard rockin’ brother , but  he knows how to show a tender side in worship that is sure to touch your heart.
