About the MarkV Praise Team…

Mark V is a Fort Worth Texas based Christian band that provides music for Church services , conferences , fundraisers , outreach centers , prisons , and other Christian fellowships.  We perform various types of music , some that lean towards Rock and Roll , some bluesy numbers , and others that are more mellow and contemporary. We usually start a service with something of moderate intensity and then build up from there , go up the mountain so to speak , then change gears to something slower and with much feeling. We enter His gates with thanksgiving , and go into His courts with praise , then into the Holy place for a time of worship.

We do a variety of cover tunes that most people know . Artists like Third Day, Newsboys , Lincoln Brewster , Kutless , Matt Redman , and others have been making great praise and worship music for a long time . We play covers of other artists in order to give people something familiar , so that they can join in with us and sing. We often tell people that we come to worship with them , but not to worship for them. We encourage people to sing and clap and dance and express themselves to God as He moves their heart to do so.

The Bible tells us that we should sing unto the Lord a new song , this did not seem optional to us . As the Lord has put words and music into our hearts to share with Him and His people we have worked out some original songs. He also makes old things new according to His Word , and so we have also taken some songs from way back and brought them forward in our own way . You could say we have “Marked Up” a song or two.

We are not full time card carrying professional musicians , just a group of people who have been delivered from the pit of hell and then set on fire for God . The band name comes from Mark Chapter 5 of the Bible , where Jesus delivered a crazy man from a legion of evil . We all know that Jesus is still delivering people from what binds them even today , this is not just a story , but has become our story. The Lord put on my heart to start a band , using musicians that had experienced this deliverance and to call it Mark V.          The Roman numeral 5 is the V of Victory in Christ .

I also saw this vision of an old car , sitting alone ,abandoned to rust away to nothing , surrounded by ugly weeds , most who see it call it a real hunk of junk. Someone who sees what it is , and knows what it can be at its full potential ,  picks up the so called junk and takes it to his home . Day by day , little by little He takes the old junk car apart , every last nut and bolt , down to the frame ,which is the foundation of the new car to come . All the parts are painstakingly  and lovingly restored , frame , engine , wheels , trannie , body , interior , the whole car gets reassembled one piece at a time . When it is finished and polished up it shines like the sun. It becomes a moving work of art that is made to go somewhere and turn some heads. The car that everyone else saw as worthless is a Lincoln Continental Mark V , classic and beautiful after some loving care rescues it from destruction…. well, maybe this story was His way of helping me see things right , the junk that was wasting away was me , and the one that took me home when I was still ugly and pathetic was my Father God . Hence our band logo has a resemblance to the MarkV hood ornament , but with the cross of Jesus as the sword of truth in the center , surrounded by the shield of faith .
