John

Drums , Band Chaplain

John is an Army soldier who was transplanted in Texas in 1980.Originally from the North-East US (North Jersey), he wound up at Fort Hood, Texas ( 2nd Armored Division, a 3 year tour) via West Germany (7th Army, 4 year tour). He came to faith in 1977 while stationed in 7th Army at Vilseck, West Germany after he read a Nobel prize dissertation and from that realized that God created the elements and everything else. God made the big bang happen!

He was discipled via the Navigators (at Vilseck, West Germany) and Youth With a Mission while in West Germany (Hurlach). Was an Army chaplain’s Assistant while in 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. He got out of the Army in 1982 and went to college, getting a degree in computer Science.

As he grew in the Lord he grew into early Jesus Music (Resurrection Band, Petra, Larry Norman, Love Song, Honeytree, Imperials, Gaithers, Keith Green, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Barry McGuire, One Bad Pig) and started playing Jesus music. He was a member of the Austin Christian Artists Association in the early days.

In 2011, he and his wife moved to North Texas and attended church there. He started helping with sound at a church. When the drummer needed time off, he was asked to fill in on drums. During that time, he started playing with Jerry Puckett and he and his wife started attending early Mark V events and soon after  was asked to audition with Mark V after an earlier edition of the band folded. He and Mark V  haven’t been the same since!

His interests include Biblical Archeology, and a lot of other stuff, to many to mention because you need to check out his musical influences: The Kinks, the Turtles, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, do we really need to keep going here?? Modern influences are: Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Dream Theater.

John is well traveled, having been through the Berlin Wall (at Checkpoint Charlie) and prayed at the Wailing Wall and through these experiences, he has learned that there is so much to life, not just what he think it is. John once wrote, “God is so good that He has given me so many Life experiences to reveal His creation to me. My goal is to be the best brother in the Lord that I possibly can, and to reveal Him to as many as I can.” And he is doing just that.
